- Without darkness there is no light -
I try and remind myself of this each time I pick up a paintbrush. Life is filled with breathtaking moments we wish we could go back to and linger in, and for me my paintings allow me to go back and reminisce.
I started seriously painting in 2013 where I started my journey in watercolor. Even before that I started out as a 3D and post production artist, where I delved into many different art forms from life drawing to claymation to painting. I try and really push lighting and depth to give my paintings a unique feel. I have always been inspired by the works of Monet, among others, and I try and let the viewer's imagination fill in some of the gaps, playing with barely visible aspects of the scene.
Primarily focusing on nature, Jason paints mostly in oil. Painting in a representational style while maintaining a painterly effect his paintings give an intimate look into animals' secretive lives and the solitude of nature.
Jason's work has won awards throughout Saskatchewan and has been displayed throughout Canada including at the Federation Gallery in Vancouver and The Calgary Stampede in Alberta. Jason is a juried Active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
Jason has work held in private collections in Canada, the United States, and The British Isles.
